SAME Cafe // Project Launch

Some exciting things have been happening here at The Lion Project and we wanted to take a couple of minutes to fill you in.

This month we revamped our social media sites, launched a new website (thelionproject.org), and hired new staff members! We also have some big plans for the upcoming year including implementing a new business model, producing a new internal marketing film, working with some new creative partners, and expanding our service to even more non-profits in the Denver area. I am incredibly excited and hopeful for all that is to come.

The time has finally arrived to implement our new business model!

We will find an organization that has a tangible need or a concrete project such as a playground, computer, or vehicle maintenance, that is priced from $1000-$5000. Using reoccurring monthly donations from various businesses, we hope to fund the project and film the entire process. Our goal is to eventually work on larger projects such as providing rent for non-profits for several months or even assisting with the purchase of a new facility for a local non-profit by raising $20,000 – $30,000 per quarter with the help of larger, yearly or quarterly donations from local businesses. Our vision is to connect the budding talent of trained creatives, the financial resources of successful businesses, and the beautiful causes of Denver non-profits. And then repeat.

For our first project, we have partnered with the local non-profit, SAME Café.

We are looking to fund their tangible need of lights for their basement. SAME stands for So All May Eat, and that’s exactly what the Café does! With a pay-what-you-can model, the owners and volunteers offer healthy, organic and fresh food to people of every economic background. We are so excited to be able to partner with such a meaningful and life-changing cause and to help tell their story.

This business model is new, but it’s something we’ve been planning for several months now and plan to implement mid-April. This project will function as a prototype and a launching pad for various ventures in the future! If you and your business would be willing and able to commit to donating $300 every month, for three months, we will provide you with your own short film of the project to share with your customers. Please contact us at info@thelionproject.org.

Thank you for everything you’re doing in the Denver area! Hearing stories of what you’re doing is incredibly inspiring and I and the others at The Lion Project can’t wait to help tell those stories.

To be a voice for the silent heroes.

Mile High Ministries

One of our favorite projects from this past year was filming for Mile High Ministries’ new building grand opening!

Mile High Ministries is a inter-denominational, non-profit organization based out of Denver, CO dedicated to mobilizing communities and equipping leaders for God’s transformational work among the poor. They have a big vision that poverty can be eradicated, a new generation can rise up to take the lead, children can be led out of misfortune, peace can come to those who need it most, and relationships can be formed in the most unlikely of places. They also have many collaborative partnerships throughout the city. Their main focus is centered on four programs:

Isachar: a center for urban leadership // Denver Urban Semester: a cross-cultural training experience for college students from non-urban environments // JAMLAC (The Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Clinic):  a legal resource for victims of daily hardship and cruelty // Joshua Station: a transitional housing program for homeless families

This only scratches the surface of what’s going on over at Mile High!  To learn more about Mile High Ministries, what they are doing, and how you can get involved, please visit their website at http://www.milehighmin.org or visit  their Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MileHighMin.
